Carbon footprint of the hot-dip galvanisation process using a life cycle assessment approach

چکیده
This work presents the carbon footprint (CF) of two hot-dip galvanisation (HDG) installations located in Spain with differences galvanising capacity and manufacturing process. The study determines influence direct emissions (scope 1), from electricity production 2), indirect upstream downstream processes 3). results showed that steel primary zinc were principal contributors to CF. So, efforts should be focused on reducing impact raw material included scope 3. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses are presented: i) one kg types products, special high-grade redistilled zinc; ii) use coatings: for paint pre-printed steel. environmental impacts SHG higher than zinc, all categories due great heavy metals emission. protections under same level corrosion, a greater thickness is needed protect pieces, compared coating. sustainability assessment HDG industry recommends sought technology alternatives aimed at resource efficiency, such as recovery spent pickling baths, could provide desirable reduction associated usage waste treatment.

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Sensitivity analysis of parameters affecting carbon footprint of fossil fuel power plants based on life cycle assessment scenarios
In this study a pseudo comprehensive carbon footprint model for fossil fuel power plants is presented. Parameters which their effects are considered in this study include: plant type, fuel type, fuel transmission type, internal consumption of the plant, degradation, site ambient condition, transmission and distribution losses. Investigating internal consumption, degradation and site ambient con...
